The cycloidal drive consists of 4 main components- an input shaft, a cycloidal cam disc eccentrically mounted on the input shaft, a set of pins or rollers mounted around the cam, and an output shaft. Motion is transmitted between the input and output shaft purely by rolling friction between the cams, rollers and pins. This leads to a high efficiency drive unlike traditional planetary gears using involute teeth which involve sliding friction.

High reduction ratios can be realized in a considerably smaller footprint. Due to the complexity of the mesh between a mathematically derived cam with pins, cycloidal gear drives need high precision manufacturing and assembly techniques and have been expensive to design and build. Inaccuracies in manufacturing often leads to backlash and vibrations. Due to these reasons, until recently, cycloidal drives have found limited use in high precision mechanisms.

Using latest CAD/CAM and analysis techniques, with high tech engineering materials, Dryve introduces a new range of high precision miniature cycloidal drives based on patent pending technology. We offer standard and custom cycloidal drive based servo actuators as small as 19mm OD to as large as 150mm OD. Our designs are fully customizable and we can produce a custom rotary actuator to meet your specific requirements.
